The Double D’s Bio

Originally from Boston Massachusetts, The Double D’s was formed in 2008 by Father & Son Team Douglas and Danny Banks. (Hence the name The Double D’s). Douglas on Drums and Danny on bass. Within 6 months of conception the Double D’s was one of New England’s premier bands. For over the next 15 years the Double D’s have been backed up for some of the greats Blues Artists such as Ronnie Earl, Duke Robillard, Kid Bangham (from Fabulous Thunderbirds), Shirley King (BB Kings Daughter), Toni Lynn Washington, Ricky King Russell, Jerry Portnoy (From Muddy Waters and Eric Clapton Band) Monster Mike Welch, Ronnie Earl, James Montgomery, Kenny Neal, Charlie Musselwhite, John Nemeth, Gene Taylor (from Fabulous Thunderbirds) just the name a few…

2005 Danny Banks appeared on The David Letterman Show and performed with Paul Shaffer and the Late Night Band. In 2013 Danny had the opportunity to tour with John Nemeth and The Blue Dreamers. After the tour ended he was offered a full time position so Danny relocated the Memphis and has been busy Touring all over the world.

Douglas continued with the Double D’s touring New England and Europe. Then the World went into lockdown with Covid and all tours and shows were canceled. As we slowly started to come out lockdown, Douglas decided to relocate to Memphis in 2021 and continued with the Double D’s. Since being in Memphis The Double D’s have been busy and can been seen playing in Memphis, Arkansas and Mississippi, Boston Massachusetts and Europe Playing Blues, Rock & Roll and Soul.

The Double D‘s performs primarily as a 4 piece band but can also bring a horn section. Our fees are based on the size of the band, distance and accommodation (If needed) and performance time. We are available for Weddings, Birthday Party’s, Corporate Events, Graduations Events, small and large Venues.
